Powered by DDP YOGA. Building people up physically, mentally, and emotionally!
Bad backs, knees, wrists, elbows, etc. keep many people from being able to get the cardio workouts that are recommended by our doctors. To complicate the issue, many deal with depression or anxiety that further prevent them from being able to get physically fit. This is exactly how I felt in 2013. I felt so broken I asked God to just allow me to die. Physically, I had suffered through one surgery on my neck and was facing another. I had lower back damage and was also dealing with an autoimmune disorder. I had just gotten out of a dysfunctional marriage that was full of mental and emotional abuse. I felt broken and I didn’t know how to put myself back together. Enter a DDP Yoga documercial that woke me in the middle of the night. DDP Yoga is a program that combines dynamic resistance, physical therapy, yoga, and old school calisthenics to create a program that provides an amazing, low- impact, high-cardio workout. I began the program with some skepticism, but I wanted to feel better and to try to prevent a second spinal fusion on my neck. Slowly, I began working the program and eventually started changing my eating habits. As I started losing weight, I began feeling better physically. I learned that I didn’t have to do everything perfectly, and I could make the program my own to make it work for me. Throughout my DDP Yoga journey, I continually gained better flexibility and balance. I went from needing a chair and yoga blocks, (modifying), to making moves much more challenging. I learned that the DDP YOGA program is for anyone from the couch potato that has never exercised to the top athlete. The program can be modified to be much easier or much more challenging, based on the person’s needs. I began realizing that mentally and emotionally, I was feeling better as well. With God’s help, DDP YOGA, and changing my eating habits, I was able to get rid of 45 pounds, countless inches, and prescription meds. I stopped living in pain and starting actually enjoying life. Eventually, I wanted to do more. I wanted to help others feel better as well. I know there are many others that feel broken due to abuse, bullying, or other situations in life. In February 2015, I became the first Certified DDP YOGA Instructor in West Virginia and the second in Ohio. I started a business, Building the Broken, to find ways to help those that feel broken. In August, 2015, I became certified as a holistic nutritionist so that I could also help others think about what they were eating and not just focus on working out.
I now offer DDP YOGA classes at the Chesapeake Community Center to help others rebuild themselves the way I did. To learn more, go to: www.buildingthebroken.com or call 304-617-4767.
