It’s Time to Make a Stand Against Arthritis

It’s Time to Make a Stand Against Arthritis Although we often think of arthritis as one disease, it involves over 100 forms, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia and gout. Arthritis in all its forms impacts more than 50 million Americans – one in five adults and more than 300,000 children.

Countless families are affected by arthritis, too. It is the No. 1 cause of disability in the U.S. Across the country and around the world, the Arthritis Foundation is working to raise awareness; be an advocate; fund cutting-edge scientific research; and provide education and support to those with the disease. This month, National Arthritis Awareness Month, is a time to reflect on the progress that has been made and to take a stand against this debilitating disease.

During Arthritis Awareness Month in May, the Arthritis Foundation of West Virginia is sponsoring several events to educate, inspire, celebrate and raise funds for the continuing fight.

2018 ARThritis Awareness Event
Our event steps off at 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 4 inside the Huntington Internal Medicine Group (HIMG), Huntington, WV with the walk concluding at 8 a.m. Following the walk, be sure to enjoy the Juvenile Arthritis Art Auction, Silent Auction, Raffles and health screenings. Register for the lunch & learn with Dr. Jason Williamson. Be a part of art and leave your mark on one of our canvases that highlights those living with arthritis. We’ll have arthritis T-shirts for sale at $10 each, with proceeds benefitting arthritis research and outreach. Register your walk team by visiting the front desk located in the lobby of HIMG.
